Uki love for the Hexie Project!

I've been working on my Hexie Quilt; only to come to the realization that what I have is NOT enough for the size I wanted!  I think I made it a bit wider than originally planned and I took out all the whites and browns and blacks.  Gee.....

I finished two rows of pink and was laying it down when it got some serious lovin' from my little Uki.  Enjoy.....

In the end, I found a different setting on my camera so the pics were much better.  After she left the Hexies; I rolled a marble at her but it jumped when it hit that metal piece on the floor, forgot the name, and hit her.  She was looking at me and held my gaze as if to say, "But whyyyyy Momma??" Why indeed would I hurt her!  She played for a while and then settled on her little quilt by my window.  She has taken to fold it over and lay her head on it.  So cute!

Thanks for stopping by.

First Rose of the Season....

I was on the computer this afternoon when my husband came in and gave me the first Rose from our garden.  Enjoy...

This little lone Rose looks so pretty with the Jasmine and you should smell it!  It is so fragrant!  I typically do not like anything rose scented; not rose water used widely in Arabia in food and bakhoor; certainly not lotion or perfume, no way.  I abhor it.  I do love a fresh rose though.

edited to add:

Uki came by tonight and asked to jump up on my lap.  She does this by tapping her little paws on my thigh!  Then I scoot back from the desk and let her jump on my legs.  I squeezed her too tight so she proceeded to jump on my desk.  I got this snap as she was checking out the flowers!  She tells everyone out there....

Take time to smell the flowers!

Peek A Boo Quilt Top and Uki

I had taken a class about two weeks ago and finished working on the top.  I had basted it about 5 times before I got it done nicely.  As I was planning the quilting and embellishments; I got a visitor!

You can see two blue Soft Paws on her claws.

Another angle.  So darned cute!

I basted the edge of the quilt with thread.  I was using a curved needle and was worried that Uki would hurt herself so after I took this shot, I finished this length of thread and put it away until I could get to it next.

I still need to quilt it.  Hopefully you will see it next week!

Ali got a package from Japan! Uki is helping me!

Ali got a much anticipated package from Japan yesterday.  He got good grades in Arabic and he swindled 30OR out of his dad; which is roughly about $100.  Sucker!  I don't believe in that necessarily. I believe in reward, in moderation.  Anyway, I ended up ordering on the net and it is gonna kill me.  He did so much research and picked out the few things he wanted but Amazon sends out several packages.  The way I have my mailbox set up in NY is to send over here to Muscat three times a week and it is just gonna kill me.  However, the package from Japan did not cost any additional monies and it got here in a week.  I snapped this pic just to show him setting up the photo for me.  He is a swindler but a doll!

He got some Bakugan thing and a cute note from a little boy and some favorite Japanese treats.  We tore through them!

Then, I started working on a little project, another mug rug for who knows?  Eminem?  Haha.  I'm still jammin' to him and love him.  Back to reality; I found Uki at my sewing machine again.  This time, her motive was not hangin' with me...

It's these little annoying flying-looking ants.  They have been swarming my sewing room lately.  Perhaps because we have the windows open!?

Look closely, can you see it???

Yep, on the foot!  On the right hand side.  Little buggers.  Go Away!

Two quilts basted and an adorable kitty!

Uki took over my ironing board!  Just look at that face!  I was in the middle of working too!

It is imperative that I show the entire ironing board!  Her back legs are like ready to jump!?

Then this morning when I was working; I kept looking in her little bed for her but then when I went to grab my third quilt top; something moved and I jumped!  Uki was in my pink fabric cubby!  Awww....

I took the kids to a local club that houses the coolest Arts and Crafts Center.  I had the kids help me baste my two quilts.  I could not do the third because I knew I did not have enough quilting basting pins and I decided that I wanted to make more rows or blocks to make it bigger.  Here is Amal helping me out.

Ali took these photos and he did a really artistic job.  I think we over basted it but better safe than sorry!

I just like this photo Ali took.  Hey, I still have my summer tan!

I forgot to take pictures of the second quilt.  Here they are both after being basted.

And here are the kids with them!  We locked up and then went out for dinner!  Tomorrow, I will be baking and packing Ali for his first trip EVER away from me!  He will be going to what they call Adventure Oman and he will be camping out.  I have his EPI pen (2) and inhaler and Zeet pills in case he is bitten by an insect.  He has a horrible allergy to them.  Send prayers our way that he has a great time without any dramas!  Please and thank you!

It's Jasmine season!

Every morning when I come back from dropping the kids off at school; I find more blossoms on our Jasmine trees. We have two kinds. The beautiful full blossom that my husband and his father grafted....

and then there is what I call 'Popcorn Jasmine' as you can see. I usually don't put down a paper towel or kleenex in the basket (from Saudi Arabia, by the way) but they last longer this way.

Uki's fur is growing back in and she has started to pull it out! There are trails all over the house...

Here she is eyeballing one patch. She often likes to play with it...

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
