Baby Charity Quilt

My friend Maggie asked me to quilt and bind and prepare this quilt for the end of May for delivery to some children in Muscat. I ended up stippling this quilt as it's my go-to quilting; but I honestly thought it would suit the top best. Plus, it's practice for my own skill level! I'm very pleased how it turned out and Maggie did a wonderful job putting the top and backing together and also preparing the binding for me. Do you know which pattern this is? Finished quilt measures 38" x 50"

The quilt posing with my dessert roses.

A close up of the quilting and piecing.  Ok.  Just a close up!!

The backing.  I like how Maggie incorporated the purple strip in the quilt.  It is the same as the binding.

All folded up.

I'm DONE!!

Baby Charity Quilt.............check!!!

All done. All I need is to get the Muscat Quilt Guild label and sew that on. I tied the floral blocks on the corners with pink DMC floss. I also sewed along the edges using a 1/4" seam. It made it look sort of like a binding. I thought it would also give it a bit of reinforcement as I sewed a 1/2" allowance. So, it has been washed and dried and I am so pleased! I made this today!

I signed up to make a baby quilt that was in a kit for the kids in the Oncology ward. These are not my fabrics but it was a lot of fun to work with something that I would never buy! I really really like this block and I think I will be making it again; but much larger! It is a nice way to showcase some favorite fabrics for the center! I also like the design that the yellow fabric makes. I put this together today and hope to tie it tomorrow. I plan on using a new technique where I don't need a binding. Thanks for stopping by!
