Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 4 Finished!

I finished my mug rug swap for my partner!  I am really happy with it and I hope, HOPE she loves it!  These are fabrics that I had used for the Peek A Boo quilt that I have not shown you yet!

I started with this block...

Here is my winking owl.  Isn't he cute!?

A close up of the stippling.

I quilted 1/4" on the blue zig zags.  I am pleased with how it turned out!

This is the back.  It is hard to see the quilting as the yellow matches so well!

Here is the final product!

Now, all I have to do is figure out what to send in the package as extras.  I enjoy this part too!  I like to send a little bit of Arabia to my partners as I think exotic stuff is so cool!

Thanks for stopping by...

HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY AMAL!

My beautiful daughter has turned 15 today.  I can't believe it!  I feel it this year.  Things will change for her now I think.  I was still in labor all those years ago.  She was born at 6:34pm Friday, May 10th, 1996.

She left me breathless then.  She still does today!

feliz cumpleanos mi cielo!

Mariah Carey had an album out and I bought it in my last trimester and when I heard this song; I knew it was 'our' song.  It still makes me cry because it captures how I felt at the time and still do.  This is just a beautiful song.

Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 4 Sneak Peak!

Here is something I have been working on like weeks ago!  I can not tell a lie!  Darn it!  Anyway, I decided to use this for my partner.  She likes bright colors but not neon.  Do I have any neon?  I am going to add more fabric on the right of this.  So far, it measures 7 3/8" square.  I need to go back and re read what the dimensions can be as this is large!  But, just like this is boring!  And too square!

Stay tuned...

PS.  I could not get a hold of my Mom on Mother's Day and did not get a return call from her or my sister.  I knew they would be together and I was right!  My Sister FB'ed my daughter to wish her a HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY today and so I asked her and they were out all day.  They had a great time so I will call my Momma again tonight!

Happy Mother's Day 2011!!

A very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all Mother's out there today!  The day almost got by me without me getting in a post!

One of the very hardest things living on another continent than my Mother is missing her so much and being so far away from her.  Still, her Mother left her Mother in Spain.  My Mom left her Mom in Colombia and I have left my Mom for the Middle East.  With modern day technology, it is easier for me to keep in touch with her.  Her Mother never saw her Mother again back in Spain.  My Mom only saw her Mom once after she moved to America.  I get to see mine every other year!  I eyeball my almost 15 year old (she turns 15 on Tuesday, May 10th!) daughter and wonder what she will pull on me!

Nonetheless, FELIZ DIA DE MADRE Mami!

This is one of my favorite photos of my Mom and I and my sister.  I had the TERRIBLE habit of pulling up my little dresses.  I was at it again so she is holding it in place.  Very cute!

This was taken in St. Louis, Missouri when I was about 3 or 4.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Ever hear of Desert Diamonds?

You can read more about this product here.

I bought myself some earrings last weekend.  They came in this little box.

I have been wanting something like this forever!

I'm so happy and they are comfortably on my ears as I type this!  It has been a little hard to get used to them when I am sleeping but this will take time.  You can wear these all day and night long.  You can swim in them and take showers.  I am going to go back and get some studs for my second piercings and for my daughter's 15th birthday.  Right now they are 30% off as my current dealer is leaving the country and selling off her stock!  Yeah!

My Little Bag is done!

Remember this post?

Well, I finished my own little purse! Yay!

This is the front.  I quilted 1/4" from the seam lines.  I rather like it!

This is the back.

Close up to show I machine sewed the zipper on.  I have one little kink in the pattern that I did not do and I am wondering if the life of the zipper will pay soon with use.  We shall see!

I sewed in my label with the machine too, which was new for me.  I had to plan ahead where it would be.  Still, the zipper ended up differently than I wanted!

This is a quick little purse to make.  It gives you many design opportunities, which is fun.  It is practical which is good to have!  I put my jewelry for the Dubai trip in mine!

Peaches

Spring Break is finally over and the kids started back at school today!  We went to Dubai for four days with friends and no border complications.  The laws regarding this topic keep changing but I think I can confidently say, it does not affect people like me anymore.  An American woman traveling across the border with two Omani children.  No husband.  This was great!  However, we still had a hold up as my friend's mom's visit visa expired and my friend had to sort that out.  Pictures to come later.  Still in my camera!

I found these two pics to share of Peaches.  She is always taking my seats and/or my workspace.  Between her and Uki!  My goodness!

Here she decided to get on my cutting mat.  She looks like a bunny!  It looks as if she is out cold!  Awww...

Again, out cold on my one chair.  She keeps licking her belly and has shorn off her fur.  This is her not-so-ladylike pose!  Peach!  Really!
