Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 4 Finished!

I finished my mug rug swap for my partner!  I am really happy with it and I hope, HOPE she loves it!  These are fabrics that I had used for the Peek A Boo quilt that I have not shown you yet!

I started with this block...

Here is my winking owl.  Isn't he cute!?

A close up of the stippling.

I quilted 1/4" on the blue zig zags.  I am pleased with how it turned out!

This is the back.  It is hard to see the quilting as the yellow matches so well!

Here is the final product!

Now, all I have to do is figure out what to send in the package as extras.  I enjoy this part too!  I like to send a little bit of Arabia to my partners as I think exotic stuff is so cool!

Thanks for stopping by...

Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 4 Sneak Peak!

Here is something I have been working on like weeks ago!  I can not tell a lie!  Darn it!  Anyway, I decided to use this for my partner.  She likes bright colors but not neon.  Do I have any neon?  I am going to add more fabric on the right of this.  So far, it measures 7 3/8" square.  I need to go back and re read what the dimensions can be as this is large!  But, just like this is boring!  And too square!

Stay tuned...

PS.  I could not get a hold of my Mom on Mother's Day and did not get a return call from her or my sister.  I knew they would be together and I was right!  My Sister FB'ed my daughter to wish her a HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY today and so I asked her and they were out all day.  They had a great time so I will call my Momma again tonight!

Angel Mug Rug Received!

I joined the Flickr group Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 3 way back in January I think.  I sent mine and my partner was the FIRST to receive hers!  I waited for mine and kept checking my Flickr account.  Nothing.

This is my Angel Mug Rug from my Swap Mama (Susan).  She sent me this beautiful, no, you don't understand, BEAUTIFUL mug rug.  I love the little squares and Sooz is a very, VERY talented quilter!  Her work is amazing.  She sent two fat quarters of lovely fabrics and one of them has a selvage!  yay!  I got a few little cat collar fasteners and some little charms that say, "made with love".

A close up of part of the mug rug.

Close up of the other items.

Oh, another picture of the mug rug and fabrics!

THANK YOU SOOZ!

I'm feeling sad today...

Hi.  I have a few things to post but don't really have the time right now as I am supposed to be (my best Chandler from Friends) somewhere and haven't even showered yet!

I am feeling sad that I have not received my Scrappy Mug Rug Swap 3 Mug Rug!  My partner opted to send it regular snail mail and it has been over six weeks!  I guess I fear that it is lost.  I have had several packages go missing from family and now they refuse to send us anything.  That's sad too.

I'm being quiet and not whining to my Swap Mama cuz she'll just tell me to buck up and wait!  She is tough!  Love her though.  Wonderful woman!

I am one of three ladies that have not received their mug rugs.  So I know I should shut up!  They are from Austria, Australia and me in Oman.

I'll use my Aramex address next time for SURE!

I think I am PMS'ing.....

But, to brighten my post up!  I have these things to blog about:

1.  New Hardanger VERY OLD German book given to me by my Dutch friend!
2.  Muscat Quilt Guild meeting pics.  Hope they are good!  I need to go and edit them.  The last couple of months were either slow in show and tell or my pics sucked!
3.  My daughter's huge opportunity...

See you all soon!

Mug Rug Swap Finished!

Do you know how HARD it has been for me to be quiet on this subject?  REAL hard!

I joined this mug rug swap on the net and have been having anxiety and fun over it!  I got partnered up with a gal, she remains anonymous still, as it is a secret swap and I am sending my package to my Mama in Ohio with a friend that is leaving Oman tonight.  I don't trust the Omani Postal Service, sorry!

Anyway, here are some pics of it.

She likes many things; but what I got out of what she liked that I could deliver were these things:  Red and aqua. However, I realize this is more teal now!  She likes hexagons and log cabins and yes, I screwed up my log cabin darn it!  Still, I love it!

Here is a shot at the back.  I hand quilted it and tried to make it flow nicely.  I got this crazy new technique on binding for little projects.  I went ahead and used the same DMC floss that I quilted with to finish the binding.  Usually, you can't see my binding thread.  Ever.  I sorta (after the fact now, huh!) like the hand done look on it.

Got my label in there!

My favorite tool to hand quilt with these days?  A piece of scotch tape on my middle finger!  heeheehee...

It works!  Really!

I have the whole loot of stuff that I sent but my battery died and is charging now.  I will come back and show you!

Off to pick up Amal from after school activities and then off to Maya's to drop off this package.  Then, I'm making baked chicken strips dipped in buttermilk (marinating over night) and egg white and rolled in parmesan cheese.  I shallow fried it in Olive Oil last time.  I'll be making a rocket salad and then baked sweet potato (from America!!) fries!  Oh man, I'm hungry now!

Did I tell you that I am completely and totally engulfed in Eminem's new album?
