Snippets Technique

A few of us finally got together to learn the Snippets technique. I had to end it rather quickly but here are some shots!

So far; it's been a good way to learn using landscapes.  This scene is purple flowers on a forest bed.  It's very interesting indeed.

Here we put a frame around the image to see that it is clear.

This one is Jo's.  I really like the shimmery water and all that color.  She was innovative enough to do that.  I'm still way inside the box!!

I found some photos!  Here we are getting our workspace ready and cutting, cutting and cutting!

Jo was like a demon!  She was so fast and so was Corinne! I was very slow...

Here Paramjeet is helping the ladies with their vision.

Jo's house was packed and shipped so I lent her my Janome.  It was fun to sew on her again!  We put a piece of black net over the picture.  Then we just did little circles all around with monofilament thread.

There you have it.  A very busy afternoon with the guild meeting for us quilters held in the morning.

Another Aneela Hoey tutorial; the Tissue Box Cover!!

I made this tissue box cover from Aneela Hoey's tutorial found here.  It was another easy to follow pattern!  I really appreciate that!

However, the tissue box size did not coordinate with what is sold here in Oman.  So my friend Jo taught me how to measure (math is not my strong suit!) the tissue box that I actually keep on hand and here it is....further down...

FIRST TISSUE BOX COVER

Uki helping me cut the fabric for this project.

She is so much fun to play with!

Here I, uh, WE were marking lines for quilting.

I used one of my favorite tools; the Kwik Klip to baste.

The quilting was fun.  I used one of the kid's yellow watercolor pencils and quilted using almost the same shade of yellow thread.  I see that I did not use the walking foot!

All done!

The pieces are ready for sewing the binding to the back.

Sewing the binding.

Uki, every step of the way with me!

Tada!

Wheras the above looks good; it was way too tight across the top and the length was short.  This is the power of photography!  I ripped the ends trying to get it to fit on.

SECOND ATTEMPT TO FIT MEASUREMENTS OF MY BOX

Uki....

I decided to stipple it all over.  It was looking like a whole lot of pink...

I like my binding clips.

I decided to do some decorative stitching on the binding parts.  I love it!

I made a little bag!

Hi!  It's been a little while again but I have made a little bag!

I followed Aneela Hoey's tutorial here.  It was simple and easy to follow.  I had no idea what she was explaining but just followed and it turned out great!  Even the zipper was stellar!

Once I finished it, I showed it to my husband along with the take out menus.  He just looked at me questioningly and I told him that I was at that bag all day and therefore did not cook for him!

I then preceded to put all his Homeopathy meds in it and they fit!  It was darling.  I went on to bed and he came up later and asked me why I took everything out!  I told him that it was very um, feminine!!  He said he did not care!  I posted on FB and got two girlfriends whom wanted me to make one for them.  One gal is leaving so I will do so.  The other is just the nicest woman, so I will as well.  Also, I need to make a manly bag for the man so tomorrow Uki and I will be picking out fabrics from my vast collection and cutting!

Now, on to the photos!

Uki helped me pick out these following fabrics and afterwards took a rewarding bath!!

These were the fabrics that we chose.  They coordinate and my friend gave them to me years ago.  I was really happy to finally use them!

I was this far and took this photo and when I went back into Instagram and FB I realized that my ladies were upside down!  I ripped and fixed that!

This is the final product.  I changed
Aneela's fabric choices a little and am happy I did.

Not sure what I will be doing with this bag.  It is currently sitting on my desk!  I will find something to put in it!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hardanger Tutorials

Hardanger Tutorials
now featured here on my blog!

I made a very simple and basic tutorial on how to make Eyelets in Hardanger.  It was an interesting process!  I had made a video of Uki playing with marbles, which is the cutest darn tooting' thing EVER; but got my hands slapped because of copyrighted material.  So, I opted for my own voice on this one!  Anyway, I hope it helps people and my master grand plan (bahahaha) is to record them for myself because I keep forgetting those stitches!!!

I got some gifts this week!

This was such a busy and sad week but happy too!  All in stride, right people?

First Wendy left.  I did not know her very well but she was truly a kind soul.  Lovely woman.  At her surprise from the Tuesday group; she did not expect us but she had made a little sumpin' sumpin' for each one of us!

She said she remembered I said something about living here permanently (it's a seriously transient society here) and how I never received anything.  It's one of my gripes.  I do feel that I am always giving because I do and so many people come and go!  So, she must have made it a point and decided to make us all, not just me, a gift when she left, which was inevitable!

Well, last Tuesday, I went to Jo's and Corinne handed me this lovely little package!  I saw the intricate paper craft.  Then I saw the SELVAGE!  I was so excited!  Inside, I saw a block and a pattern for a Friendship Scrap Block.  So, nice!

This is the block.  It's so pretty!  I think those are Kaffe Fasset background anyway.

Then my friend Jean left Oman to go back to the UK.  I will miss her immensely.  Lovely, lovely woman.  This was taken outside our venue of the last Guild meeting last Saturday.  Safe travels mon amie!

Then my daughter comes home last night and brings me this loot!  She went to Sri Lanka for one week with the school.  It was a hard trip.  She got sick.  Stayed sick the whole week.  Poor thing.

So that was my creative week, sort of.  I made mini quilt I need to blog about....
