Stash Busting

I went looking in my Stash basket to fine a particular fabric to cut up and use and also to view it up close and personal so I could decide if I wanted to go to the trouble of buying it from the States.  What I found was that little fabric and all these packets that I had made up whilst heavily pregnant with my almost 12 year old!  I thought, 'this is ENOUGH!!' and decided to put one of the packets together.  I only kept one signature square (for a swap for the millennium) and tossed the rest.  We were living in Saudi Arabia at the time.

This is what that collection of 25 2.5" squares yielded.  I like it.  A lot.

So, I again went shopping in my stash and started cutting up 2.5" squares and 2" squares.  Whatever, I mean it, WHATEVER did not meet those two measurements went in the dumpster!  It is so refreshing!  Also, if I touched the fabric and DIDN'T LOVE IT, it was tossed!  So far, and it has been a couple of days, I have not felt the urge to rummage through my trash cans!!  Yippee!!

I pulled out so many 'started' scraps from friends and from my own stuff from over the years and just started playing around.

I am so pleased and have about 30 sets ready to be ironed and sewn together to make a 12.5" square!!

Stay tuned to see what a huge 200x200 meter ginormous monster I am making!

What great squares. It feels so good to use up stash, especially really old stash. I'm doing something similar with 1.5 inch strips right now and it makes me happy to see them getting sewn together and moved out of the bins.

Hi! Most definitely! These pics of the purple and floral squares were already cut into 3.5" x 2.5" so I cut those down and zipped them up! It does feel good to get them done and it will be a useful or used quilt whereas my stash spiderweb is on the wall! yay!
