Cyclone Phet Category 5

Hi. I'm scared. This cyclone is sounding or is more powerful than the one we had in 2006, Cyclone Gonu. It devasted parts of the capital (Muscat where I live) and other coastal villages. It is supposed to hit Oman's coast tonight. Tomorrow will be a crazy day. Amal, my daughter, and I went grocery shopping earlier and stocked up on water. Water was the one commodity that we lacked and the rush to get it and gas for our cars was awe inspiring.

I'm not gonna panick; I'm gonna prepare. Yeah, that is what Larissa said. Thank's girlfriend.

You can keep up with it if so inclined here. I hope everyone survives this and that those around the world are happy and healthy and safe!

Hey Alia,
just letting you know that the cyclone reached category 3 today and it's not going to be as bad as Gonu in 2007 it was announced on tv today.
and there's a huge chance that it wont be reaching muscat but there will be some heavy rains and wind starting tonight.
just thought you shouhld know and you definately don't need to panic.

btw the cyclone is down to category 1 so that's kind of a relief, still wont be coming to muscat yet. just the heavy rains so far.

Hi Alya,

Yep the rains have come and so far not too much water damage inside the house. The kids are excited with the rain and that school has been closed for at least Saturday! Amal's 8th grade Science exam has been canceled so she is chuffed but like 'hey!' because she really studied hard for this exam. She has the knowledge now so she did not waste her time!
